  1. In the video slippery slope on NOVA was amazing. The water that used to be a giant lake dissapears. The water drained into the bed of the ice sheet. The water lubricates the outlet glaciers and the water forms the world's largest waterfall as it falls in to a giant hole.

The melting of Greenland is more serious than many scientists have thought. The scientists have found out that just the slightest change of temperature can affect the ice greatly. Just the slightest change of temperature melts the giant icebergs that cover Greenland. No body knows how fast the ice will melt because this is the fastest the ice has ever melted before in Greenland.

  3. The clip called "Greenland on Defrost" from the Nova Program Extreme Ice teaches how ice in Greenland is decreasing. The ice sheets are very sensitive to temperature changes. As a result of global warming, approximately 150 billion tons of ice has been lost in Greenland over the recent years. As the ice melts and goes into the oceans, the sea level rises- creating more problems in this crisis. Greenland is getting greener. The hard questions are how fast and how much ice will be lost.

  4. The video Slippery Slopes was amazing. How did the presurenometer show them how the water went under the ice. When the video showed the water in the lake going through the hole in the ice that was awesome. fter watching this video I learned many great and new facts about ice melting.Although it the ic isn't supposed to melt it looked beautiful

  5. Nova's Extreme Ice Program showed the how much a glacier can fall in one year. This is called caving. Caving is normal for all glaciers, but these photo's were astonishing. In the past 30 years, so much ice fell, it can cover about ten miles, or about 16 km. This is only one example. The makers of this video even think that at one point in time, the glaciers will be a thing of the past.

  6. In Doomed Domes their are many beautiful, and scary big, and deep holes in the ice that goes down about 1 and a half miles into the earth in Greenland. These big holes are created by the melting of ice. All the water that goes into these holes continue to dig deeper, and deeper into the earth.

  7. In the video Doomed Domes it shows you what can happen to the earth if all the ice melts. In the video it also shows what can happen when all the ice melts. When all the ice melts the sea levels rise.Another thing this shows is in Greenland where some ice melted. This ice needs a place to go. the water moved and created a huge hole.

  8. The clip "In Extremis" from the Nova Program called "Extreme Ice" showed melting glaciers and sea levels rising. The pictures shown from the clip were taken by the same camera for 3 years. The right coast of Alaska's temperature has risen 4 degrees. This issue is serious and more action should be taken.

  9. The video, Slippery Slopes was very interesting. While watching the video, the people found out many amazing facts. Some things that they said in the video was that the reason that lakes were dissapaering was because all of the water was draining out of the lake through an enormous hole in the ice. Once the water was through the hole, it went through the bottom of the ground and into the ocean.

  10. "In Extremis" was the clip my group viewed. This issue should be looked at more thoroughly. Apparently Alaska's west coast is the fastest coastline to lose its ice on the coast's ridge. The temperature has risen about 4 degrees. To us that not be alot but for these glaciers 4 degrees makes a huge difference. A way scientists viewed this issues was to put 26 cameras around the glaciers for 3 years to view the glaciers melting.

  11. In Extremis, the video, was very interesting to watch and learn about. This video said that the coastlines to sea level is quite dangerous. What a scientist is doing is, putting 26 different video cameras in all different regions of ice for 3 years to observe what is happening to the ice. Many more scientist should be looking into this terrible problem and try and help our earth keep the ice that we need.

  12. The ice sheet in Greenland is melting.About 150 billion tons of ice is being lost yearly. Evidence can be found in a ice storage facility in Colorado. The giant refrigerator holds ice from 23 from around the world. A piece of ice has bubbles of oxygen. These bubbles show the levels of carbon dioxide along with the amount of nitrous oxide and other gases. The ices layers show how much snow fell in a year.

  13. The video on Doomed Domes from the Nova Program was a very interesting topic to watch. This video was about the glaciers melting all over the world. The video explained that there are many places in the world that feel like a warm place instead of the cold place the glaciers were located. RyannBCDS.

  14. On the video Glacial Pacemaker it showed many interesting and shocking things that have happened to Columbia Glacier. Scientists left a camera in front of a glacier for a whole year and went back to it finding that the whole glacier was gone. Looking at the pictured from the camera, each day the glacier fell apart and melted away.

In the video In Extremis, certain people were taking advantage of falling ice. Surfers were being silly and using the waves from the ice to surf and got hurt. This is an example of people who dont care about meting ice.

  16. The Slippery Slope video was amazing. Who would have thought that instead of refreezing, the water actually flows down under the ice? At least now everyone knows why the ice slides around. People should really do something about this thing!

  18. On the video "A Slippery Slope" it was very shocking that there was a lot of water coming out of the glacier. It was very frightening to see how much water came out of the glacier. The interesting part of this video is when the scientists said that the lakes were disappearing. This was a very interesting video.

  19. In the video a group of men researched a glacier named Columbia. They wanted to find out the speed of the glacier, and found out that it moved 50 feet every day. They think the glacier is moving to fast and melting to fast, because of water that is flowing on the iceberg. This video was interesting and allowed me to think about how we can stop this.

  20. The video "A Slippery Slope" was a fantastic and depressing clip. It is hard to believe that lakes n Greenland could disappear over night and drop about 3,000 ft below ground. This is a major problem and we must do something about it. This article was informative and changes the way we look at melting ice.

  21. Doomed Domes was a extremely excited and moving film. This film was so exciting because you actually got to feel what it is like to in a real glacier. This film was also very important. It was very important because it really shows how the sheets of ice are melting and how fast they are melting and how much of a cation they are.

In the video, the scientists viewed the pace of which the glacier was melting and after a year they discovered the horrifying truth. The glacier was melting fifty feet a day and one day it will disappear.

  23. The first video of the series,In Extremis, James Balog(the photographer) explains to the world that sea levels are rising. James also explains that the sea levels are rising faster, especially in Alaska. He is fascinated by ice, so he is capturing the melting ice on camera.

  24. The video called Greenland on Defrost was devastating to watch. Soon Greenland will be green if we don't do something about it. Greenland's ice sheet is going to fall into the water. The ice is very sensitive to temperature rise. The temperature is going to rise and if we do save the ice sheet then there will not be much less.

  25. In the video Doomed Domes the people talked about how the melting ice in the Artic affect sea level rising. They also talked about the people in India and how they got their water from the Himalayas. If the temperature rises six degrees, the water will melt and the oceans will flood causing tsunami's. This was a very interesting clip.

  26. In the video Extreme Ice it showed that glaciers have started to fall too much. Scientists do not know how to stop this. In Alaska when some glaciers massively fell, surfers were surfing on the waves. This is extremely dangerous and not smart because you could get very injured doing this.

  27. In the video 'Extreme Ice'--It is interesting to note that through his scientific research, he finds evidence of differing layers of salinity and temperature in the ocean water.--Gareth,D.A.

Also in this video, I think that we need to take immediate action. If we don't millions will die and millions will be homeless. Even though this will not happen over night we will have to deal with it eventually. Tyler, D.A the cool school.

  30. In the Himalayan Mountains when glaciers fall they go into the ground. This can overflow rivers and could dry them up after. This causes the demise of rivers. In Greenland when glaciers fall they land in oceans. This affects the coastlines of the U.S. This will be the demise of the East Coast.

  31. In the 6 degrees video, it was kind of scary to see what can happen if we let the earth warm up 6 degrees. At 1 degree 1/2 the year the arctic will be free of ice and hurricanes will hit the south Atlantic. At 2 degrees, Greenland's glaciers will disappear , new insect migration routes (not normal), some Pacific islands will be lost beneath waves, and polar bears will fight for their lives. At 3 degrees, the arctic will be free of ice, Paris will become emptier and emptier because it will get warmer in Europe and the Meditteranean. At 4 degrees, Venice will be submerged, Canada will become an agricultural center, ocean rise will take over deltas, and the Ganges River will be fighting for its life. At 5 degrees, there will be massive uninhabitable areas and popular cities will be dry. At 6 degrees, natural disasters will become common, deserts will stretch across countries like armies, and there could be a Global Warming Wipe Out. In 2003, a major heat-wave in Paris killed thousands and this os the result of Global Warming. It's really frightening because if any of this happens, we will probably still be alive. Our children might never be able to see some sights in the world because they will be covered with water, or to unbearably hot to venture close to. It's so sad, and scary. After watching this video, it really makes me want to do something to help.

  33. After watching Glacial Pacemaker on Nova it is scary to think that Alaska's Columbia Glacier in the last 30 years has lost over 10 miles. Climate change around the world due to carbon emissions is causing a major fluctuation in temperature that is radically changing the weather on the earth. This is one of the numerous reasons why flooding is on the rise.

    What will happen next?

  34. If climate change gets worse so will sea level rise and this could be bad news for the coasts of the world. also oceans could push up on countries borders. Another problem is that penirsulas and islands could be in danger of sea level rise. Another very large problem is Glaciers. they are melting and its because of climate change.

  35. The video Slippery Slopes was a very interesting film showing what is currently happening to the Earth. It was very clever of the people who made the video used that presurenometer to find out where the water was going. When the water poured into the hole in the lake it was like looking at the result of us wrecking the Earth. I hope we can stop global warming before it reaches the tipping point.
